Our Mission
To provide academics (MAs, PhDs, Professors) from the humanities, social and behavioral sciences, and adjacent fields with the information and insights to get hired as UX Researchers.
About Us
Please donate to support our work and help academics break into UXR!
Dr. Dustin Welch García (he/him)
PhD in International Studies from the University of Washington
Dr. Welch Garcia formally transitioned from academia to UX in 2020, landing a UX Researcher position at Microsoft. He began as a contract researcher, working through a recruiter at a staffing agency. Leveraging his strong academic training he thrived in his contract position and was offered a full-time job with the same team. Having experienced how dignifying and life changing a career in UXR can be, Dr. Welch Garcia has committed his free time to driving Academia to UX as a means to scale his mentorship to a larger audience of academics transitioning to UX.
Dr. Ender Ricart (they/them)
PhD in Anthropology from the University of Chicago
Dr. Ender Ricart realized early that they did not want the transient life of an academic, moving from university to university for visiting or assistant professorships, hoping to be that one in a 1000 that lands the Associate path. Dr. Ricart has worked as UX Research at Amazon and Google to develop emerging technologies such as Conversational AI, Cloud Computing, and cybercrime prevention. Ender has devoted their free time to supporting academics eager to learn more and transition to UX, mentoring close to 50 such people over the last 7 years.
